The premiere of The September Issue, which opens nationwide September 11, was held in absoloute true Vogue style, thanks to Anna Wintour's hostin. Arrivals were supposed to start sometime around 7, but Anna, along with her September 2007 cover girl Sienna Miller showed up promptly at 6:45. The night was clearly all about Anna, though many people conclude that Grace Coddington is the real star- both Grace and Andre Leon Tally were avoiding being photographed on the red carpet, but Grace did say this about her portrayal in the film:
" I hate to say it, but true to life!

Anna Wintour may be infamous for the rehearsed, perfect appearance- we all know how she values her image- but her appearance on David Letterman on the 24th to promote The September Issue, reportedly won't be rehearsed. Instead, a spokesperson said that she's "going to ad-lib". In honor of the film's premiere yesterday, two more clips have been released- one showing Sienna Miller wearing a wig at the cover shoot after they criticize the condition of her hair, and another showing creative director Grace Coddingtion dressing a model, and talking about how she's one of the only editors who does it.

The editor-in-cheif of Conde's newest, super-cool fashion magazine LOVE on her aspirations, how LOVE is different than Vogue, and breaking tradition:
“I’m really practical,” she told the Times UK. “I go to the gym most mornings and I walk everywhere, so that’s why I wear flat shoes and no make-up. It’s not vanity; it’s laziness.

The divide between the US and Europe, in terms of fashion, is completely (and pitifully) obvious here: Harper's Bazaar UK chose wisely when they picked Natalia Vodianova, looking beautiful among wheat while the US Harper's features and actress. Cudos to them, of course, for picking Leighton Meester, as she and her TV alter-ego Blair Waldorf are both largely viewed as a style icons, but the bright, bold and somewhat obnoxious print on the cover definitely brings it down- she's glowing, but that doesn't mean everything else should be as well. At ELLE UK, they picked Lindsay Lohan, who might be on the verge of making a comeback.

Vogue is looking to switch things up- maybe a good thing, since ad pages are down 36% this September, but we will have to wait to see how this is actually executed. A glimpse into the past, though make people think that the future of Vogue could be hidden in the newly-found editorials Anna Wintour worked on while she was at New York magazine from 1981-1983. One of the biggest factors that make people think these types of images would be re-worked for Vogue is the fact that a few of them show models at a grocery store- a concept we saw in Vogue just a few months back.

R.J. Cutler, the director of The September Issue, gave a talk last night at the Apple Store mostly about the cool things Apple's film editing software can do, but couldn't help but slip in something else on his amazing experience at Vogue. In fact, he had so much juicy footage that Andre Leon Tally, one of the most entertaining personalities at Vogue, was actually left out of the first cut of the film.

With ad pages down 36% from last year for their September issue, word is that Vogue is looking in a slightly new direction. According to the Imagist, this could mean "a new circle of models, an influx of fresh, young photographers and a desire for 'unpredictability' in the stories." Sounds like a good idea...thoughts?

While many other industry veterans like Adriana Lima and Karolina Kurkova, and now Gisele Bunchen has just been confirmed as pregnant, are announcing their pregnancies, another (younger) model is, too: Jourdan Dunn. Style.com has just recently confirmed that the 19-year-old British model is expecting her first child this December. No news on the father, but needless to say 19's a little young.

While the Met Gala may be slipping out of her fingers, Anna Wintour has found a new project to control: publicity for her movie, The September Issue. She's reportedly been "completely controlling" of the film's publicity, which pretty much makes sense. It would be very unlikely for Anna to permit a crew and cameras to capture every moment of her inner workings at Vogue without any conditions, even though that's how she claims it went.

The absence of Anna Wintour from couture is still a lingering mystery, but the question's surrounding Andre Leon Tally's absence have been resolved. Tally explains the sighting in North Carolina, writing that he was eating "Southern ham and baked chicken," along with about 200 others on July 5, the day before couture began. The occasion was a brunch hosted by poet Dr.
