Shine On

With the holidays behind us now, and New Years coming fast, it's time to sparkle. The spring runways this year showed a wide array of shiny gold and silver metallic garments. Perhaps the most eye catching, however, was Nicholas Ghesquiere's stylish space-age-like collection for Balenciaga. Between the ribbon dresses, clean-cut suits and fun party frocks in this one collection, it could have been a trend right there, but he wasn't the only one with glittery visions. Burberry, Costello Tagliapietra and Yves Saint Laurent took on the metal in a liquid form, while a more hard-edged metal look showed up at Chloe and Iceberg. Marc Jacobs and Nathan Jenden took metallic to new heights with their super-charged mutli-colored metallic. Prada showed gold crinkled dresses, while Halston and Reem Acra played with color. However you put it, though, metallics are lighting up runways everywhere.
